150,000 STUDENTS EXPLORE THE BRAIN AND THE HEART
Science Week 2016 activates students all over Denmark, who want to immerse into science projects on the body´s two most important organs.
THE SOUNDSCAPE OF NEW YORK
With support from the William Demant Foundation, 25 Danish engineering students have been on a study trip to New York City to measure and document the sound levels in the urban environment.
DENMARK AS A PIONEER COUNTRY
A large-scale, cross-disciplinary research initiative will put Denmark at the forefront of hearing rehabilitation. “Better Hearing Rehabilitation” or just BEAR, and the purpose of the project is to increase the benefits that hearing aid users get from their hearing aids.
The aim of the Young Scientists programme is to find, acknowledge and challenge young talents in areas such as natural science, technology and healthcare science and to incite them to get a higher education in these areas.
A LITTLE FROG IN THE SWAMP …
In 2016, Den Blå Planet opened a new area with activities focusing on wildlife in Denmark’s waterholes. The area is particularly interesting for families, schools and institutions that will learn about all kinds of typical waterhole animals and bugs.
DRIVING MORE CHINESE TO HEAR BETTER
The William Demant Foundation has donated DKK 1.12 million to the mobile hearing clinic and equipment to be supplied by Interacoustics. The project will run for three years, and the aim is to help 6,000 people a year.
UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND IN JOHANNESBURG
The William Demant Foundation has donated almost DKK 5 million to a research project that aims to integrate audiological services into healthcare in South Africa.

The William Foundation also makes donations for architectural and cultural causes, including the new Maritime Museum of Denmark in Elsinore, which is placed underground and below water level in an old dry dock.
ISRAEL SQUARE IN COPENHAGEN
In the summer of 2014, the beautiful, newly restored Israel Square in the inner city of Copenhagen was inaugurated. The William Demant Foundation has donated more than DKK 50 million to the project.
The William Demant Foundation donates money to Knæk Cancer (the Danish Cancer Society), Danmarksindsamlingen (the Danish national subscription) and Børneindsamlingen (the Danish subscription for the benefit of children).

Having a child with a hearing loss, when you ‘ordered a normal child’, means a life filled with taboos and frustrations. Lova’s mother, Mette Bau, is now addressing these taboos and frustrations in her book called ‘Talk to me now – how to cope when your child has a hearing loss’.

HEARING CLINIC IN SOUTH AFRICA
William Demant Foundation supports a hearing center run by volunteers in the poor Xanthia. Foundation has donated equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss.
THE MARY FOUNDATION
William Demant Foundation is co-founder of The Mary Foundation, which combats social isolation. Princess Mary is the initiator and co-founder of the fund, which helps adults and children who experience loneliness, bullying or violence in the home.
